Play A Round of Golf
If you a golfer, you’ll love Pearland’s options. Enjoy a few rounds at the Pearland Golf Club, open to non-members. Redesigned in 2014 to create a more challenging 18-hole course, visitors are guaranteed to soak in some gorgeous views while hitting a few rounds. Southwyck Golf Club is another option and it winds through the Silverlake subdivision. It’s a links-style course on the front nine with four holes going out away from the clubhouse, often playing into the wind, and five holes coming back for the turn, usually playing downwind. Timber Creek Golf Club, a 27-hole golf facility on 316 acres, and Championship Golf Center are other great options!
The striking Hindu Sri Meenakshi Temple is a stunning example of Indian architecture and a replica of the original in Madurai, India. Built in 1982, this building is dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi and is the only Hindu temple devoted to her outside of India. The temple is larger now than its original size, with the addition of a visitor’s center, library and additional temples. A variety of events are hosted throughout the year and open to both members and the public.
The city of Pearland offers Concerts in the Park during its warmest months. Listen to live music in Southdown Park every Friday night, grab a meal from a food vendor, let the kids stomp around in the Splash Pad and on the playground. Don’t forget your blankets and lawn chairs for a laid-back summer evening with friends. Four-legged friends are welcome too!
Satisfy Your Inner Foodie
With a plethora of international cuisine options, Pearland is where you want to be when hunger strikes. Daily Meal voted the city’s Killen’s Steakhouse as #6 on the Top 20 List of Steakhouses in the country. There’s also Killen’s Barbeque with mouthwatering hickory smoked meats. Hit MOD Pizza for a slice or D’ Caribbean Curry Spot Cuisine for a burst of flavor. You can also catch live music by local artists around town on most weekends. Watch a sports game at Two Dogs Saloon or Stadia Sports Grill, or dine in with a date or family at Santa Barbara Italian Cuisine or All Season Seafood. Celebrate Oktoberfest in the fall at King’s Biergarten. Vallensons’ Brewing and BAKFISH Brewing Company are excellent breweries to catch up with a friend over a pint or two.
Pearland, being on the Great Texas Coasting Birding Trail, is home to several preserved habitats, important for migration. Set up a lookout spot at a few key places around the city like Shadow Creek Ranch Nature Trail or John Hargrove Environmental Complex to spot herons, Ring-billed Gulls and more. Birding is a year-round option in Pearland, but warblers and hawks can be spotted in the fall and spring.
